Gifts for the Host

Claire

From fall tailgates and clambakes to endless holiday events, the last quarter of the year is a social whirlwind. Cue the social anxiety. As with many anxiety hacks, preparation is key. One area you can plan ahead with is to have a token of your appreciation in stock. Here are five ideas for different types of hosts and what to keep on hand as go-to’s.  After all, you’ve got what to wear to focus on:

  1. The Libation Lover- It is not uncommon for people who host parties to love a good cocktail. This is low hanging fruit in the host gift world! Order a cute set of two Moscow mule mugs off amazon and pair with a bottle of vodka or some ginger beer. If they are more traditional you can get stemless wine glasses with a bottle of wine and add festive wine stoppers if you want to go above and beyond.
  2. The Chef- If you know your host loves to cook, get a gift that would build on their strengths. One idea could be a plate or board that they can use to display an appetizer or cheese charcuterie board. Etsy has great personalized ones if you really plan ahed. You can pair it with a cookbook or utensil that focuses on those type of dishes.
  3. The Homebody- This type of host is generally the easiest to buy for, it’s okay to keep it simple and classic with your gift. Remember it is the thought that counts. For the “homemaker” I would suggest a gift bag that includes a nice scented candle, decorative tea towels, and soaps, or perhaps an apron or potholders. This gift is getting back to basics, things everyone loves and can  use fresh versions of and can be personal in the theme or colors.
  4. The Entertainer- If you know your host is always having get-togethers, look for a gift you know will be put to good use. A marble wine cooler is a relatively inexpensive gift that is a beautiful, yet functional addition to any shindig. A nice addition to this gift could be a wine opener or even a plant to freshen up a room.
  5. The Guy’s Guy- I personally find it harder buying for men, I am not sure why, I guess I don’t quite get them ?. Anyways, if you are going to a party hosted by a male, you can buy a speaker because what guy doesn’t like playing music and there is always affordable and quirky options and constant deals running. You can also add funky jerky or crazy hot sauces. Another can’t go wrong opton is a Yeti tumbler. If you are still stumped with a gift, I can guarantee a 6-pack of beer would not disappoint.

I hope this read has given you some guidance in the gift-giving department. Do not over think it, a nice gesture is all it is!

Have fun & be safe this holiday season!
