Having a hard time at work lately? You may be wrestling with some big questions . . .should I go for that promotion? find another job? start a business? go back to school? What should I have for lunch? These are all important, deep questions to ponder, but in the meantime the weekend comes to an end and you’re headed back to the office before you find any clarity. What to do in the meantime to keep your energy up? Give your office desk a mini makeover.
- Declutter your desk- Grab some file folders and divvy up any straggling paperwork into 1.) Urgent 2.) On Deck 3.) File, 4.) Delegate 5.) Pitch
- Plant it- A houseplant will cheer you up. Not a green thumb? Try a cactus or succulent. Don’t want to spend money, grab twigs from your yard and plop them in a mason jar. From reducing stress to improving air quality, a little green can go a long way.
- Refresh your supplies- Give away or pitch every promotional pen, chewed up pencil, and steno notebook with four pages left. Remember how much you loved getting school supplies for the new year (or was that just me)? Anyhow, that feeling doesn’t go away. Keep only your favorite and most used supplies on hand.
- Light it up- consider adding some task lighting. It can alleviate eye strain as well as serve to personalize and brighten your space. OR Scent
- Infuse some inspiration- Display one or two things keepsakes that make you happy. Not too much, mind you. A family photo or inspirational quote can keep bring a smile to your face and remind you of the bigger picture.
